It’s exciting to be in Bristol! I love helping people come together, connect and care alongside our neighbors in need, making a difference strengthening and empowering struggling families. For decades I’ve helped churches and nonprofits in the U.S. and overseas expand, grow, and revitalize living out their vision by caring about and including vulnerable neighbors--as the Hub says it, “bringing hope, healing and wholeness.” That’s my background, passion and joy!

I’m meeting so many wonderful people here! I see incredible potential. With a caring, committed staff, volunteers and donors, the Hub’s active food pantry, financial/life resources, and neighbor helping neighbor, are a life-saver to so many. I’m thrilled to bring critical life-skill training to strengthen and equip struggling parents and families… And soon, with a wonderful community supporting us, even more!

Want to know more about how you can make an impact and leave a legacy of life-change?! We’d love to connect. And may God bless us, as caring together, we give our best...

Hello! My name is Karen Hernandez, and I’m the Food Pantry Director for The Hub's Food Pantries.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our community through food support, outreach, volunteer coordination, and connecting families with resources. My role includes organizing pantry operations, coordinating food donations and deliveries, shopping for pantry needs, managing social media outreach and community communication, working alongside volunteers, building partnerships, and helping support local children and families through outreach programs.

Before joining The Hub, I worked in healthcare caring for children and the elderly, served families through ESL translation and community involvement, and have always had a heart for helping others feel welcomed and supported.

One of my greatest passions is creating a caring environment where people feel seen, valued, and encouraged during difficult seasons of life. I believe serving with compassion, kindness, and faith can make a meaningful difference in our community, and I’m honored to be part of that mission at The Hub.

I grew up in Elkhart County and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, earning a degree in elementary education. My early work experience was as a teacher. After moving my family back to the area from Atlanta in 2009, I began seeking positions of service. I worked for 8 years in a local church as a communications administrator. Later, I served at an area drug and alcohol treatment center and most recently as a State Eligibility Consultant at the Elkhart Division of Family Resources. I have a heart for community, connecting with people and providing resources that will increase the quality of life for both individuals and families.

As the Life Resources Director for The Hub, I look forward to serving Bristol and being a part of an organization that will grow and evolve to meet the needs of Washington Township.
